To buy a dog; agreement, vet certificate, registration
When you have decided what dog you want to buy - you will have to plan for the purchase of the dog.
When you buy a dog it is a legal transaction. The rules may vary between different countries around the world - but it is always a good idea to get the most information about the dog on paper when you buy your best friend.
1. Agreement - the document that gives you the ownership of the dog. The breeder verify that he/she has sold the dog to you for a certain amount of money on a certain dag. This is important for you to have. There are illegal dog traders that steals puppies - you need to be able to show that you are the owner of the dog if there should be a discussion about it.
2. Veterinarian certificate - should contain two things:
a) veterinarian report that tells you that the dog has been examined and is healthy and well.
b) information that the dog has been marked with an ID-number. When you buy a dog with an ID number you know that it is exactly that dog that you bought. You also know that the medical report from the vet is based on examining the right puppy. Besides, some countries doesn't allow dogs without ID number.
The vet certificate should be dated recently. Not older than one week is a good rule.
3. If you buy a pure breed you should get a registration with a pedigree according to the national rules of your contry.
Important: Your puppy must be at least 8 weeks old when you bring him/her to your home. Whatsoever; Never buy a younger puppy - it's a risk. The puppy needs its mother at least 8 weeks.
