Danish-swedish farmdog (Dansk-svensk gårdshund)
The Danish-swedish farmdog is a little dog with short fur. It requires a minimum of fur care. An active, happy dog with energy. Originally it was a farmdog in Denmark and Sweden. The breed was famous for taking care of rats and mouses and for being a good watching dog. It even held the fox away from the hens - but was at the samé time a great with the kids. When the industrialisation came the breed nearly was extincted but a cooperation between the swedes and the danes made it possible to retain the breed.
Danish-swedish farmdog is "fast as lightning". It has a hunting instinct and is good at chasing rats. Earlier the farmdog was kept outside on the farm where it remained without running away. The dog is not a stroller - on the contrary it has a developed feeling for its territory.
The Danish-swedish farmdog is lively and deserves a lot of attention and commitment. It could be long walks, training, agility or playing. It is a fast learner. It could jump very hight, is steady and very fast. Danish-swedish farmdog is fond of children and is a dog who deserves a position in a active family. The dog could be reserved with strangers, but it isn't timid.
Danish-swedish farmdog has a hard, short and flat fur. The white colour should dominate but spots of different colours and forms are allowed.
Height: male 34 - 37 cm +/- 2 cm, bitch 32 - 35 cm +/- 2 cm.
