Dachshund (Toy Dachshund) (Miniature Dachshund) (Standard Dachshund)
The Dachshund is a German breed. There are 3 different sizes of Dachshund: Toy, Miniature and Standard.
- The Toy weighs about 3,5 kilos (7-9 pounds) and has a maximum of 30 cm around its chest
- The Miniature weighs about 4 kilos (8-10 pounds) and measures 30-35 cm around its chest.
- The Standard weighs about 9 kilos (18-22 pounds). If the chest is more than 35 cm the Dachshund is a Standard.
You know that is is a Dachshund when you find a dog with very short legs and a long body. A Dachshund shall be lively, self confident, affectionate, proud, bold, willful, clownish, curious, mischievous, clever, devoted and a nice fellow with his own personality. In fact the Dachshund is originally a hunting dog. Even today it is used for hunting. A nice dog - but with its own will: Could be a bit stubborn...
The Dachshund has three different furs: short-haired, wired-haired and long-haired
The Dachshund could have a single colour, two coulours, wild coloured or spotty.
