About our philosophy

SmallDogBreedInfo origins from the swedish site www.litenhund.se. The idea was to provide information about the special needs of the small dogs - for example: what do you need to know when you are planning to buy a small dog, what is so special with the small dog and so on..... 

We are dog owners and dog lovers ourselfs. We know how important it is to choose a dog with a temper that suites your life, your family and your level of activity. This is essential for the relationship between dog and owner. This is why the focus on this site is on the dogs temper more than on looks or exterior. 

As the small dogs increase in popularity there is a risk that the small dog is concidered being an accessoir more than a dog and a living creature. Sometimes it is even handled as a merchandise - something that is really horrible - somethings we want to fight against. 

We want to defend the small dogs right to be a dog. We also want to give a piece of advise before you buy a little dog and some ideas about how you handle a small dog in a good way. A small dog requires different things than a big one. However the comittment and the time you need to take care of a dog is the same whether it is a small or a big dog.

We hope that we could provide some information and hopefully increase the level of knowledge about small dogs. Our vision is that owning a small dog never should be a temporary whim or a craze - instead it should be given the conditions to turn out to be a long and happy cooperation between the owner (human) and the dog.
